This paper reviews the known and suspected causes of bird collisions with communication towers, assesses gaps in our information base, discusses what is being done to fill those gaps, reviews avian vulnerability to collisions with tall structures, and reviews the role of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in dealing with this important problem.
